Our home is in Danger

Many would say that 'pollution' is an old and rote issue, but the question is not of old or new, but of how we can improve our lifestyles, while keeping the potential lives of generations to come with us. Opening the way to make it worse and worse. Pollution has become a serious problem not only in the country but all over the world. Global warming has increased continuously and 'Conferences on Convention' are being held to reduce greenhouse gas. There is a lot of debate on this in developed and developing countries, agreements are being made, but it is very difficult to say what is the result of it. If we talk about what is being done on this issue in our country, at the level of citizens and also at the level of government, then a very disappointing picture emerges. The past Deepawali once again brought an atmosphere of enthusiasm across the country, along with it was also found guilty of spreading poisonous gas in the atmosphere. The news of pollution reaching alarming levels was featured prominently in all the newspapers on the next day of Diwali. It is very unfortunate that people do wrong things and some holy festival gets maligned! It is not written in the rules of any festival that you should do such a thing which harms you and other people. But in spite of that, if people gamble on Diwali, play cards and burst crackers beyond limits, then those people should be criticized! These evils prevalent in the society should be criticized, not the festival! The festival brings us the opportunity of happiness, gives hope to increase social harmony and what we do is a loss for ourselves as well as everyone. Along with air pollution, noise pollution also increased to a great extent during Diwali, there is no doubt about it! There were also reports that there was an astonishing increase in the number of patients with asthma, cough, infection, burning sensation in the eyes, etc., coming to various hospitals and private doctors across the country during Diwali and soon after.

In this regard, many quirks were seen spreading the message on social media that “if goats can be slaughtered on Bakrid, crackers can be burst on Christmas day and other works can be done on other festivals, then only on Diwali we can burst crackers. Why take control? What a strange logic? Not only this, a message was also spread in support of firecrackers that when firecrackers are burst at the inauguration of Olympics or Commonwealth Games, why should we not leave them on Diwali? It is understandable that such people are sitting with their intellects locked in a cupboard. Although any festival of any community, or any such occasion, anti-social and environmental work should not be done in the name of celebrating it, but on this basis we cannot support any "mischief". Anyway, the firecrackers that are burst on other occasions are limited to 10 minutes 20 minutes or half an hour, but on Deepawali from 1 day 2 days before to one or two days after Deepawali, in a continuous way. A firecracker is fired, it will soon cause serious health problems in our country, which will be almost impossible to control! We should also understand that till about a decade ago there were no more deadly, louder and more polluting firecrackers, so people had less money. Pollution might not have been known then, but now it has reached the limit. There is a box of such firecrackers that once it is set on fire and left, it remains automatic budget for half an hour. Mat bombs of several meters are coming, which burn for several minutes and cause terrible pollution. Similarly, pomegranate-crackers that spread light give so much smoke that even that much smoke does not leave the electricity factory! If seen, our country already facing problems like industrial development, excessive number of vehicles and lack of awareness among citizens about pollution, causes the death of about 6 lakh people every year. These deaths occur only due to air pollution.

According to a report by the World Health Organization, 13 out of 20 polluted cities are from India only. If this figure is from 2014, then in another figure which was released in 2012, according to that 249304 people died in India due to heart disease, then 195000 people died of heart attack! Similarly, 110500 people gave up their lives due to lung disease, while 26330 people died due to lung cancer. Even after seeing such unfortunate sights, our double standard on pollution continues, so then our master is God! To say, many efforts are made in the name of stopping pollution in the country, but we can see that till now no system has been very effective. Perhaps that is why the NGT is furious at Delhi and the central government. In this regard, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) reprimanded the Center and the Kejriwal government on the worsening situation due to pollution in Delhi and said that both the governments were not taking steps. In response to this, the Delhi government said that it held two meetings regarding pollution, on which the NGT said that you should hold 20 meetings, but what difference will it make. Tell me any one thing that you have done to reduce pollution? It is clear that the common man, the common man, institutions like NGT are finding themselves helpless in front of these conditions. But the question remains, is there really going to be any change in the situation? The question arises that what is the solution to this "pollution-discussion" which started on the pretext of Diwali? If we talk from experience, then completely banning private vehicles in metros like Delhi seems to be a permanent option, but despite the consent of NGT and all concerned authorities, even 10 years old diesel vehicles have not been able to get off the roads. The talk of private vehicles is a 'daydream' only. Anyway, removing 'private vehicles' completely from the roads may not seem like a practical decision to many people, but you can understand that we have no other way than this!

If we want to save crores of people living in cities from diseases, then we need to take such strict steps. Yes, in the meantime to solve other problems arising out of this, we must promote and organize the public transport and sharing taxi model completely, so that the problems of traffic and movement are not obstructed! Keep in mind that if private vehicles are not completely banned in metros, then in the coming few years the number of diseases arising due to pollution will increase terribly, in relation to industrialization in addition to pollution from private vehicles, the government will promote nuclear energy. So that pollution arising from coal etc. will be curbed in the coming years. As far as Deepawali is concerned, then surely the fireworks on this occasion will have to be controlled, otherwise the pollution which is caused by thousands and millions of vehicles throughout the month, some ignorant people will burst firecrackers in terrible quantity on this occasion for half a day. I do it myself.

Even at the level of citizens, we collect garbage here and there and burn it, which causes pollution. In such a situation, concrete measures should also be taken for the disposal of garbage. So let us bring this 'pollution control discussion' that arose after Diwali to a solution and make sure that we will reduce the amount of pollution in the country at any cost. For this we do not have to voluntarily leave private vehicles and use public transport or burn crops, he will definitely take all measures. Along with this, some common measures can also be tried, such as keeping the sound of TV, music etc. in the house to avoid noise pollution, do not use unnecessary horn, use less loudspeaker etc. It has also become a big problem. Avoiding this may include not silting and wasting water in drains, ponds and rivers, then to deal with the growing problem of chemical pollution, more and more use of organic manure, paper instead of plastic, cotton cloth instead of polyester or Use of jute etc. and minimum use of plastic bags may be included. Along with this, planting more and more trees and plants can be nectar for us, so that the earth's greenery remains and it can help in reducing the spreading pollution. It is to be hoped that by raising the issue like every time, we will not forget and try as many measures as possible at the government as well as individual level, so that we and our future generations can develop our healthy lifestyle on a pollution-free earth.
